For Minor Bee Stings:

  1. Scrape the area around the bee stinger as soon as possible by using the edge of a straight, thin object (such as a credit card) in order to remove it. Avoid using tweezers, as they can often cause more venom to be injected.
  2. Thoroughly wash the sting area with soap and water.
  3. To alleviate pain and reduce swelling, ice the area. If the person is stung on an arm or leg, it is also recommended that they elevate it.

Continue to clean the area for a period of five days in order to avoid infections.

If the person has a severe bee allergy or exhibits any unusual behavior, call 911 immediately. Red flags often include:

  1. Trouble breathing
  2. Dizziness
  3. Hives
  4. Swollen tongue
